Braunton 10 & Hestercombe Humdinger

Braunton 10

The first local race of the year gave sixteen strugglers a chilly start to their 2012 race calender. Braunton 10mile will generally provide some cold conditions along with some very steep inclines and this year was no different.

The first struggler home was Steve Abell in a time of 1.01.40 coming 9th overall in a very strong field and placing in his age category. Five minutes later and Derek Page crossed the line also taking an age prize.

Making her debut in this this race for the Strugglers was Lucy Goodman, who finished in a very impressive time of 1.14.16 and was the first female struggler home.

Also making their debut on this course was Paul Cooke, Chris and Kate Murrin, Charmaine Synkova, Tringa Sibthorpe, Cath Hawkins and Jon Hibberd.

Steve Abell 1.01.40, Derek Page 1.03.33, Simon Goodman 1.07.29, Paul Cooke 1.08.44, Lucy Goodman 1.14.16, Chris Simpson 1.15.42, Chris Murrin 1.18.59, Richard Westcott 1.19.40, Charmine Synkova 1.29.32, Sarah Rogers 1.37.50, Jon Hibberd 1.44.40, Sue Carter 1.44.18, Tringa Sibthorpe 1.44.24, Amanda Adams 1.42.32, Kate Murrin 1.45.35, Cath Hawkins 1.46.49

Hestercombe Humdinger

Dave Cutler opted for an alternative to the Braunton 10 and headed to Hestercombe to complete the 9.5mile undulating course around the Quantocks lanes. Dave was part of the trio that led the race from start to finish all fighting to pull away from the others. A sprint finish to the line gave Dave a very deserved 2nd place in a time of 56.52 just 3 seconds behind the winner!
