August holiday races

Despite being a bank holiday (with awful weather unsurprisingly) a handful of club members ventured to the Forest Flyer and Quarrymans to take advantage of two of the most scenic runs in the area.

Richard Connett was the first struggler to finish at the Forest Flyer on Friday evening closely followed by Phil. Both Tracey and Brian felt that the 5 mile of forest trails was not a sufficient distance for them so decided to take a slightly different route and increase their race distance to over 6 miles! Sue was the final struggler to finish in fine form! The M5 hampered the turnout of runners with Emma getting stuck in traffic as well as illness preventing a few others.

The Quarrymans 10k (ish) has the added bonus of finishing at a pub so you would think the strugglers would be out in force but only 3 made it to the start and, thankfully also, the finish.

Nik had a great run finishing 16th overall. Sarah and Jayne followed just behind, a little way down the field. Good to see the strugglers represented!

We shouldnt forget the club members that took part in Molland tetrathlon this weekend on foot or bike! Ian Waldron had a great run in the 4km, moorland run and came a very respectible 4th, closely followed by Simon - in 8th! The bikers - Jack and Jim experienced mixed fortunes in the 4.5km moorland sprint with Jim producing an outstanding finish to take 4th and Jack withdrawing after just 500m when his chain snapped in 2!

Well done to all those that took part in events this weekend and well done to everyone else for taking it easy!
